Youth Council
The Youth Council is for Young People aged 11-18 years who live in the area. Young People are from elected groups eg school council, local YDSS Area forums, Voluntary and Community groups. The project aims to ensure that Young People from across the district will have the opportunity for their views to be represented at the Youth Council. Young People sitting with key decision makers getting things done quickly where possible. They will work with the Adult elected members and other service providers - voluntary and statutory to give young people a voice and act as advocates for their peers. Young People have a clear role in the decision making process for the delivery of services to young people and promoting the provision to young people. Taking forward issues raised by Young People in their local area forums and making a change. Representing views of their peers on other forums.
Area Forum
Provides an opportunity for young people to be more informed and a part of the decision making process, promoting the Involving Young People (IYP) work to different groups and supporting the development of their ideas. We work with voluntary and statutory groups and engage them in IYP work - supporting a drop in surgery for young people to discuss issues and concerns that matter to them on a local level. The Area Forum encourages Young People to build their confidence and self esteem to engage in their own communities. Young People are supported with their various issues and work with a range of agencies to develop services and provision for Young People. We have two Young People from the Area Forum who also sit on the Youth Council, any issues raised at the Area Forum are taken to the Youth Council on a district level and raised with to the appropriate people.
