What is counselling?
Life is like a journey and sometimes we will come across obstacles and difficulties in our path or even feel that perhaps we are travelling in the wrong direction.
Counselling can offer a confidential, safe space and regular meeting times with a trained, experienced counsellor during which you can look at your own ‘journey’ and explore your feelings and any issues you are confused or unhappy about and together discover the best way forward for you.
Counselling can help with difficult thoughts and feelings from both the past and the present and also help when you feel stuck but don’t know why. It is also an opportunity for you to develop greater self-awareness and begin to accept and value yourself.
Some problems you may want to explore could include:
- relationships with family or friends
- school, college or work problems
- abuse (emotional, physical, sexual)
- bullying
- your sexuality
However, whatever is important to you can be brought to your counselling sessions.
